Yes, but it may take a little extra patience and support. Babies actually latch to the areola, not just the nipple, but if it doesn’t protrude easily, they might have a harder time getting started.
Nipple shields, pumping before feeds, or gently drawing the nipple out with stimulation can help. A lactation consultant is super helpful here.
And just know: plenty of moms with all kinds of nipples have gone on to successfully breastfeed. Your body isn’t broken. It just might need a slightly different approach.
