How do I know when my milk will come in?

Your milk typically “comes in” around 2–5 days after birth. Before that, your body produces colostrum, a thick, golden liquid that’s packed with nutrients and antibodies—basically baby’s first superfood shot.

One day you’ll feel pretty normal, and the next? Bam—your boobs may double in size and feel like warm bowling balls. It’s weird. It’s wild. It’s also totally normal. Expect some tightness, maybe even some leaking, and possibly wondering if your chest has been replaced with water balloons.

If it feels too intense or painful, don’t suffer silently. A lactation consultant can help ease the pressure (literally). And don’t forget—cold cabbage leaves are a thing, and they weirdly work.
