What’s colic and what do I do if my baby won’t stop crying?

Colic is basically long, intense crying in an otherwise healthy baby—often in the evenings, lasting more than 3 hours a day, for at least 3 days a week. No one knows exactly why it happens (super helpful, right?).

First, rule out hunger, gas, dirty diaper, or needing to burp. If nothing helps and your baby seems inconsolable, try rocking, white noise, swaddling, or babywearing.

And if you feel like you’re about to lose it? Put the baby down safely and take a break. Call in support. Colic sucks, but it will end.
